Saved in my tablet, just after I made that last post. Just made some tie-outs out of 1.75 zing-it, buried it about 5" or 6", wasn't too worried about. Should be more than enough for a SF.....RR

Thanks for all your very useful input. I often suspected my bury might be a bit long. Nice to know I can go a good bit shorter.
After leaving HF, I am heading over to those links.

I have done locked brummels on dog bones before; more difficult but doable.
    Winter is for experimenting.
I just received 25 feet of Dynaglide from Dutch, so it is time get to work.

Alright, I have watched the videos. I need to do a better taper than I have been doing. I do have one more question; Regarding stitching the bury. Is this stitching along the length of the bury, from where it ends back to the eye or is it simply across the end area of the bury? The directions for stitching on the site did not quite penetrate my brain properly.

The rope in the video is a bit larger than we use, but the stitching remains the same.

I did some splicing with Dynaglide for the first time last night and was surprised to find that for an eye splice with a locked brummel (they just call it a brummel) New England Rope only specifies a 1 1/4 fid length bury.

I was also surprised at how well a dritz loop turner worked to splice Dynaglide.

I found out what happens when you forget to cut the taper, before pulling the splice through. Was splicing zing-it, put the locked Brummel, went to pull the bury, and I couldn't get it to pull through. As much as I fought, it just wouldn't go. A forehead slap later, and then a now cut taper, and it pulled through easy. It had been a while since I had spliced, and forgot this one simple thing. The rest of my splices went fine......RR
