Camp kitchen, tarp by the fire, community tarp (if it's big enough), anything you need rain coverage for other than at your hammock.
For a PU coated rainfly that has seen its best days you could spray it to regain some water proofing, but it would likely be better in the long run to just let it go and invest in a Silnylon or Cuben tarp.Originally Posted by nickgann
Ventilation. If you are waking up drenched you're likely not ventilating enough. Some condensation is unavoidable, but most of the time is caused by too much of a temperature differential between in your tarp and out of it. We all like to be buttoned up and warm in our setups, but if there is not enough ventilation you will become drenched with condensation in your tarp.Originally Posted by nickgann

The suspense is thrilling me!
i have used waterproof spray on my diy tarp. i have done this for the past 3 seasons with good results. i have not been in any really bad weather, but the normal rain shower did not touch the tarp.

You would do very well on the IQ test that measures more ability to reason than specific knowledge, forget what it is called. Laughed at some of these but would love to use it as drapery. The woodpile comment made me think if hung properly I could actually put it over the fire to protect it from rain throughout the night in winter.
