+1 for Wilderness Logics and their service. Marty is great. Took great care of me when I ordered the supplies from him for the UQ I am currently making. He even packages some of it for me by the 1/2 oz so that I could more easily fill the baffles with the amount of down I wanted so I could better get a 20* quilt as the finished product. He also took the time to fill and ship the order the day before he went on vacation so I would have it the day before Christmas so I could work on this project over the break.

I think that his willingness to go out of the way for a customer he doesn't even know speaks volumes about the customer service he would be willing to provide if you have any problems with anything you ordered from him. I would highly recommend him as a great source for DIY materials.

In addition, I just checked the Down by the Pound site, they are selling 800 FP for $6.50 an oz. Wildernesslogics is selling 850 FP for the same price. Something to consider.

Their website states they buy surplus and overages. Not quite sure how that works, but I would not want to pay full price for discount materials.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I decided to try cheap for a change. I tried to buy a Kmart down pillow without success. They had feather, but now down. So I went to Target and bought a standard down pillow listed as 600 fill. Estimated 24 oz of down for ~$50. I'm going to use it for an underquilt project.

It's worked out GREAT. I got the partial length and put one ounce in each of the nine baffles, which works out to about 20% overstuff. It's perfect. Well made and warm in the end. I just put the suspension on today (I used the LeighLo suspension style, which also ROCKS). I plan on taking/posting some pictures of it tomorrow.

While I've purchased from Warbonnet and HammockGear and would do so again (as well as any of our other great vendors), this was a very cool way to do a partial-DIY project. I saved a bit of money, but even better I saw more about how quilts were made and experienced part of the process without having to struggle through it all on my own.

That is exactly what makes it so appealing to me as well. Good to hear it worked out for you.
