Otter, I have not checked the weather maps yet to see what conditions will be like. Any plan B if the weather is nasty? "Hang" at the local bar?!

For those who have never been to Panther Creek Falls area, the hike in from Three Forks gets very steep in places. If there is a lot of rain, those steep climbs and descents can be very muddy and slippery, so be aware and ready for those conditions if there is rain. Hiking poles are a good idea on this hike.

The hike up from the Conasuaga River is not as muddy, but there are several water crossings up Panther Creek.

    Hey Guys,

I just checked the forecast for the Cohutta Wilderness Area (McCaysville, GA is the closest town that comes up). Since McCaysville is at a lower altitude, adjust the temps by about 5 to 10 deg.

Friday- 40% chance of light snow and sleet. High: 48 Low: 32
    Saturday - 60% chance of rain. High: 52 Low:37
Sunday - 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms. High: 57 Low:40

    Welcome to spring!
    Anybody got a hot tub?

    Otter,

Not many folks reporting back in. I just wonder if doing a hang at a later date in the ball field at Little Bald Mountain may bring a larger group. For anyone who would want to do a hike into the wilderness area, there is a trailhead at the field that goes down the the Conasuaga River as well as another hike to a fall below Little Bald.

    Re: Cohutta Wilderness

It turns out I'll be hiking and hanging on the AT this weekend. I just need to get some miles under my feet, so I'll be joining some of the NB thru hikers who are starting out. I really don't care if it rains all weekend, I'll still have lots of fun. I'd love to join some Cohutta hikes in warmer weather with lots of stream crossings. :-)
