    Hello from GA

    Hello, all.

After a LONG hiatus from hiking, I want to get back into it. I've been looking at going ultra-light due to, um, having seen a few more winters than most. (Heavy backpacking gear really turned me off.)

I am hoping to learn how to get the "hang" of this hammock idea so I don't have to sleep on the cold, wet, lumpy ground...

Just have a back-yard hammock for relaxing, at this point.

I have been enjoying reading the forum. Lots of great information.

Welcome from Denver! Backyard lounging, backpacking and more areall better in a hammock. Good luck finding the places where it's best for you.

    A fellow Athenian...

    Well, actually Bogartian...

There are a number of us around the Athens area. Maybe you can join the hang scheduled for the upcoming weekend -=> http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=63773

I'm afraid I'll only be able to drive up for a day trip on Saturday.

Thank you, Brian. Nice to meet you.

Thank you, GeezerScouter. Wow. I don't actually have any winter equipment, yet. But thank you very much for the invite. Once I get official, I will check up on that! Great to know about folks in the area.

Welcome to HF from Athens. If you're trying to decide what type hammock to get come on up Saturday and you'll have a variety of styles to try out.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

    Thanks, everyone.

I will try to drag my hubby up to Raven Cliff Falls some time this weekend.

Hi bradmel1008! Are you new, too? You are way up there close to the mountains. Nice.

Hope to see you this weekend at the hang. Even if you don't stay the night, it would be good to see different set ups.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
