Considering converting an old sleeping bag to an underquilt

I've got an old REI Icelandic Special Down Sleeping bag. I think it dates back to about the early 70's. I got it as a damaged 2nd back then because of oil spots. It has since given me MANY years of excellent service.

It weighs in a 58.8 oz., and is barrel-shaped, I measured it at 72" long, 24" wide at the head, 30" in the middle, and 20" at the foot. It has lost some of it's loft over the years, but still has some fluff.

My question is, would this make a good candidate for an under quilt conversion? If so where do I start?

There are several (lots?) of threads on HF about converting sleeping bags to quilts. I'm guessing a quick search will turn up more information than you even want to know.

    Have fun!
