Can someone send me a link to a thread which talks about keeping rain off of your hammock's suspension?

If you're not specifically looking to use rings, you could just tie a strip of absorbent material onto your suspension under your tarp. Cotton or those rayon shop towels (e.g. Sham Wow) work well.
If you are looking for rings, you can either use descending rings rated for climbing or climbing rated carabiniers (CAMP USA Nano 23 are light and good, but the rings are cheaper). Then you attach the ring to your hammock with a short length of rope (amsteel continuous loops work) and attach the rest of your suspension to the ring/biner. The rain will travel down your suspension to the lowest point on the ring before dripping to the ground. Just make sure the ring/biner is under your tarp.
