    Spindrift?

    If I use a spindrift in winter, do I need a tarp?

    I'd say it depends on the type of snow that might fall. If it's really wet snow, it will eventually soak through. I use a tarp regardless because the added windbreak, and I don't like to take chances in deep cold...
