Video---Ask Professor Hammock : What's the Single Ring Suspension?

After a long hiatus, "Ask Professor Hammock" is back, eruditely answering questions from viewers (Noob, Dutch, and Skeptic) about the Single Ring Suspension, particularly with respect to a comparison with the Whoopie Sling. He shows how the SRS works, the impact it has on Amsteel cord, and tests empirically how well different devices and cord types work---or don't. Finally he cranks up some computer simulations to analyze how much benefit one gains from a foot and a half shorter minimum length between trees.

Great stuff Grizz. Even enjoyed the computer analysis part. I must agree with your final conclusion. The SRS is a neat concept but just doesn't offer enough benefit to outweigh the negatives (harder to adjust, dyneema compression, etc.)

Time to grab some pillows and see if the Knotty Not holds up!

Great vid, glad to see you back in production, and I am a SRS kinda guy. Would your CS predictions change much if you varied tree trunk size as found in a s. sempervirens copse (to take a liberty)?

Really awesome analysis Dutch. I love the value of data and the understanding it brings to answering people's assumptions about pretty much anything.
