Can you Over tighten your UQ?

I ask this as a first time user of a WBBB, my new HG Phoenix 20 is wonderful but during some 50* testing I get CBS. I have all the corners tight and the center not as tight and there doesn't seem to be any gaps. But with everything snugged up it seems that right where your butt pokes down on the left, the UQ loses loft from compression. So does this happen to you? What am I doing wrong?

Yes, it is absolutely possible to lose loft via overtightening. Been there, had the cold butt to prove it.

+1 - overtightening is very possible, especially with the double suspension. It can help close up sagging issues (which also cause CBS) but can often have the opposite effect. Loosen it up just a bit and it'll be much better.

Thanks, I'll loosen it up and see if I can find the perfect adjustment.

Yip, good approach. Like many other things with hammocks, the learning curve/dialing in the perfect setup can take longer but it'll definitely pay off. Once you figure it out and have a few nights in it, it'll be much easier to keep adjusted to the level you're happy with.

it can help alot if you have someone else check for gaps and stuff while you are laying in it, instead of trying to do it yourself

Triangle thingy's, Or a 3mm line tied over at the foot end loops of WBBB, help with gaps at end.

How does the triangle thingy's work? Does it pull the bottom of the UQ upwards? Do you also loosen the corner pulls?

By my thinking, if you have a UQ with correctly designed differential cut inner and outer shells, you will remove or minimize the ability to pull it so tight that it will compress the insulation. It works on the same principle as a SRL on a hammock support. The limiting factor is the SRL (inner shell) with the sag being determined by the length of the hammock (outer shell).
