Mayan hammocks were the inspiration for my right-angle hammock (a project still in the works, though very slowly). The other problem with a large woven hammock is the difficulty insulating it without compromising its flexibility. I've solved that, along with the weight problem, but am still tweaking the hammock design, and I have some ideas about how to make a tarp that would work with it. Lots of new stuff to incorporate at once - give me another 5 years on this project.
