Whipping a sewn in channel hammock

I got a ENO single nest which has a sewn in channel. I have a continuous loop that used to go into the channel and go through the other end. Last night I was playing with it and decided I want to whip the ends instead of dealing with the sewn in channel. How do you suggest I do the whipping? I have the eno crap rope that I am going to use until I can get some amsteel so rope is fairly limited.

I tried whipping my ENO years ago and switched back to using the end channels. I used some string in the end channels to whip the ends and then larksheaded my suspension around it. Can't explain why but I found it more comfortable using the end channels though. YMMV. Because of the size of the end channels and the triple stitching, whipping both ends will shorten your hammock by 3 or 4 inches.

I agree with bubba on the length change. Those things are short enough as is.

However.... I have a bias wwm that I don't use the end channels on. I whipped it with paracord. You can use any kind of string or rope for this as its just holding everything snugly. Anything from kite string to old shoelaces to paracord. If all you have is the rope from the hammock, go by Walmart and get some shoelaces or paracord and you'll have it whipped up and ready to go faster than they used to hang witches in the olden days...

Read that thread, it should point you in the right direction without too much confusion... But like said above, your going to lose 6-8" of total length which is going to make it less comfy... If it ain't broke...

What do you mean about losing the loop... It sliding back inside... A small zip tie will hold it in place if that's the only issue...

Hook a biner on both continuous loop ends when you pack up your hammock and it will be ready to go when you want to hang it again.

I've have continuous amsteel loops in my end channels and after being loaded, they never loosen without me actually picking them apart.

This has been my experience as well. They cinch down pretty darn tight after first use.
