    Funny story

So I finally got the last piece for my hammock; climbing grade rings. And I was enjoying a leisurely nap and slightly moved to the left when the slipknot that made sure the line didn't undo in the rings, undid. So, I fell flat on my butt in two seconds flat.

    Been there done that
Best one so far was sitting down to fast didnt open the hammock all the way went in & right back out with a backwards somersault. I think even Shug would have been impressed.

Hmm. Sounds like you are leaving noob status behind very quickly.

Adding 2+2 from your other thread, I'm guessing you tried using two rings on each end as "ring buckles" with amsteel for the rope.

This works well with 1" webbing, but as you have found, amsteel is too slick to use this way. Also, the crushing effect of the rings probably causes a localized weak spot in the rope.

gmcttr is correct. That will put load on the line in a way in which it was not meant to hold. Next fall could be the line snapping. Be carful with it, and remember don't hang higher than your willing to fall.

Attaching the rings with a biner may keep them from clamping as well as when connected with a loop.
