I currently have 0... yep zero hammocks, I have fabric which i have hemmed for 3 though (The one i had previously got destroyed by me experimenting chopping bits off and redoing it, it is now a small gear hammock lol). I will have one as a big comfy one from 2.2oz ripstop That will be 66" x 11.5' when finished, used for trips with friends when im more likely to abuse my gear and let my buddies play and as a loaner and two from 1.5oz ripstop 58"x11' one with an integral bug net and one with knotty mod and a removable bug sock that will also work with the bigger one. I also have plans to make more because the fabric is cheapish, I want to experiment with different designs to find what works best for me and to save weight. Also they are so fun and easy to make with my horrendous thread injector skills that it's a bit addictive. I just like to fiddle with things.

Started with a Grand Trunk, waiting for a Lite Owl to arrive (today hopefully) because I'm tall and think the extra lenght will help me get the flat lay. Bought the GT on a whim and started reading these forums, now I also want a Mayan for the family to relax in. Careful, it's a slippery slope!!

Started with eno dn and realized there was so much more out there. Then I made my first DIY and then my second DIY and really like it. But then I ordered a lite owl and will get that Monday. Now it's going to be hard to decide if I take the DIY or the LO. Oh well

Yup. I like having options. Netting? No netting? Single layer for summer? Double layer for winter? It's all about flexibility. It's not because I have a tendency to exhibit addictive behavior. Don't ask to see my stove collection.

If 1 is so great.....8 must be wonderful

Seriously though, you can only lay in 1 at a time. I'm blaiming my ADD and OCD and addictive personality.

So with regards to backpacking hammocks, as that is my focus, why do you own several hammocks and do you use them all or have you found your favorite and just stick to that.
Well my wife got me a hammock for fathers day. My daughter was in it all the time so I bought one for her, then I bought one for my wife, then I made one because mine got a hole in it. I found making my own was inexpensive and fun so I made another, and another.

I think it was OldGringo that said something about you don't have just one pair of underwear . . .

I have... um.... 4 right now, and I'm working on a Ghost Hammock.

One, but Papa Smurf has my attention for a possible Dangerbird.
