Modular Sleep Systems turned into TQ & UQ and Winter Socks for down to 0*

I love my kids, all six of them & my wife and grandma. But it cost a lot to outfit so many. So here is my solution.

So for all the rest of the vets here. Who else has a boat load of demilitarized gear and very little extra cash.
I've started turning a bunch of my modular sleep systems into TQ's & UQ's and
    Gortex under covers/winter socks.

Ill try and post pics as I go but I get tunnel vision once I get started.

The goal was to use the gear we already had that we don't use any more since we all switched to hanging. It all might not be super light, but you can hang well below zero.
Spend less than $100.00 in material for 6 total hangers TQ,UQ, and waterproof under cover and winter sock.

    Stay tuned for the updates

I did this same project a few months ago. With a scouting discount, the 3-piece system was $40 from a local surplus shop. Turned out ok and will even zip around my 8-yr old.

I cut a rectangular hole in the end of the foot box. It can be closed with a loop of paracord and a cord lock. Grosgrain tabs on the sides attach to the fixed ridgeline to keep it taught. Pretty simple but effective and cheap. Super heavy, but works for Cub Scout car camping.

    Sucess!!!
UQ: was able to cut inner black bag from end of the zippers to the seam of the foot box. Then seam rip the end piece out to lay it all flat. Cut both sides zippers off to make a dimension of, 52" wide at the shoulders, 65" long, by 42" wide at the feet. Plenty big enough for my 5'11" 210lb frame. Then cut the hood off straight across the top edge, "possible sleep hood material" when done. I'll weigh it once I twill tape the edges and install the shock cord and cord locks.
UQC: took the Gortex bivy and did the same thing as the inner black bag. And got about 3-5" larger all away around. Perfect for a waterproof undercover. I'll weigh it once I roll the edges and install the shock cord and cord locks.
So far so good, I'll up load pics tomarrow after the kids are off to school. Time to pass out
    Thanks for the interest
    Stay tuned
