I'm shocked we could get 5 pages out of knot or not...
All I know is 'on the knot, not the toggle.'

I carry much longer straps then I really need on average. Here in FL I do occasionally hang in an oak hammock (yes that's a term down here) that has trees upwards of 3+ feet in diameter. So, I have 10' straps with a sewn loop in each end. When I don't need the length I just fold the strap in half and larks head it around much smaller trees. Then I still MSH the toggle to the doubled-up strap as I would normally with the single strap (hopefully that makes sense).
I figure by doing this too I kind of spread out the wear and tear on the straps over the full length.
Works for me....HYOH
Sorry had to upload...
Really???....shocked???....we're only a couple of posts ahead of the "supportive pillow" thread and we've covered larks heading to the tree with one strap or doubling it, knots vs. stitching to make end loops, stitching patterns, tying a water knot and whatever I'm forgetting.
And then, there's this, which I'm going to try with webbing, just for grins.
