    Prusik knot hammock suspension?

Has anyone ever tried a Prusik knot on the hammock end around a single line to webbing on a tree for suspension? I like the idea of simplicity and adjustability. I am curious if this has been successfully tried or even if a Prusik knot would hold the weight and be secure enough. Any thoughts on this concept?

There was a similar concept on a single ring suspension... Where they wrap the amsteel around the ring a few times...

Brute that sounds interesting but I am having a hard time envisioning it. Do you have any idea of a visual for this might be?

Thanks for the video. I do recall watching this before. Sometimes I believe systems can be over complicated and I have a mission to simplify my system.

Good mission... But sometimes oversimplified becomes too complicated...

I think it would work, I just dont think webbing would work. You could use the webbing as a tree strap but would have to come up with some round roping of some sort for the prusik to slide on. I could be totally wrong on the webbing, not sure. Dang it, you got me thinkin now LOL!! I like the idea though. I know that my hunting safety harness for my tree stand
uses a prusik to lock onto the tree strap and it holds just fine.

One of my favorite quotes: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." —Leonardo.

I agree that oftimes our suspension systems can get overly complex. Truth is in the eye of the beholder, however. Some view Whoopie slings the "pièce de résistance" and other see them as overly complex or difficult. In a lot of ways, what is fashionable, easy, difficult, or revolutionary is just the "flavor of the month." Personally, I've been enjoying the "simplicity" and "ease" of the KAMMOK Python straps and the ENO Atlas Straps. Both are essentially the same and are dead simple. But, there I go again being subjective.

I like how Sgt. Rock put it not to long ago: "Whatever."

If you wanted to use webbing my suggestion would be to use a Bachman hitch. Almost the same as a Prussic but it is wrapped around a biner to help make it slide. With cord you could also use a Blake's hitch tied to the hammock then it too can slide along suspension cordImageUploadedByTapatalk1355868553.493849.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355868574.224656.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355868693.917064.jpg
