    Hello from Marshall, Tx

Brand new to the hammock thing. I never had any earthly idea that hammocks were so big as what I have discovered. I enjoy backpacking and at 57 started looking for an alternative to sleeping on the ground. I Googled "hammocks" and Wow, here I am. Looking forward learning and doing a lot of this.
    Enjoy anything outside.

Welcome to HF! You won't believe how comfortable hammocks are compared to laying on the hard ground.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Hope to make my maiden voyage this weekend at Caddo Lake (where I spent a lot of time in days gone by) in an ENO Dbl with a Kelty Noah's tarp, BA sleeping bag and pad. Hope to get acquainted soon.

That's a pretty classic beginner's setup (especially the ENO and kelty) and if I were using a pad, it's be with a BA system to reduce it from sliding around.

    Enjoy!

If you want so see a variety of set ups and learn a bunch, make the short trip to Atlanta State Park this weekend. The thread with info is here.
