I followed the link above and made these ones a few nights ago. I like the concept and ill be trying them out soon. But I'm really liking the ingenuity behind the rubber bands. I'm going to make a few and try them out also. Thanks for sharing.

I have found that the hot weather here in the Central Valley causes rubber bands to deteriorate over time and then one day (as if by magic) melt all over my gear. Ranger bands, however, have yet to go all gooey on me. Plus you can cut them as wide or as thin as you like to get the amount of tension you want without multiple bands. Who knew an old bike tire could be so useful?

I've got it rigged more permanently, but I like your idea of being able to quickly swap out a different tensioner to adjust tension to conditions--time to get in the garage and start tinkering... again
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Used the rubber bands over a 4 day hang weekend and was very happy with the result. Never had to manually tighten the tarp. Nice use of on hand materials. Thanks!

They are $1 or so for 10 -20 in a pack
they do break after a while but they are cheap and easy to use
