    Downmats - REI Super Clearance

Starting on Friday, 1/9, REI will have their super clearance sale, which includes an extra 50% off all clearance items whose price ends in .83. That means, after the discount, a Downmat 7 DLX will be $60. Holycrap

There will be a TON more gear available, but the downmat deal jumped out at me. I love my downmats and can't recommend them enough.

I'll be there early on Friday morning...

How do the Downmats keep from accumulating moisture?

Outer shell is WP and you don't breath into them to inflate, but use a supplied pump.

I think the question was supposed to be "How does one keep the Downmats from accumulating moisture, realistically?
    Trust nobody!

I use the included pumpsack every time I fill up my downmat. It's MUCH faster than trying to inflate a mat by blowing into it.

Yes, that's what I was wondering. You don't have any choice but to fill it with what's available, which may not be saturated.

    Thanks for the tips, all!
They sound really sweet. Now I really want to try one out.

I'm not a big fan of foam pads or segmented pads, as they seem too bulky. But this looks like it would pack pretty small. Plus, the warmth:bulk ratio of goose down is incredible. The R value on these is great. 0 F and -20 F .

Any condensation on really cold nights inside the Exped DownMat baffles?
Any other concerns to the Exped DownMat?

Super clearance is both online and in stores. They don't publish the super clearance details online, but do email REI members in advance of the sale. I was at the store today and they were setting up all the bins to hold the clearance gear.

I'll be waiting in line before the store opens

Edit: The details of the sale are: Any item whose price ends in .83 will be an additional half off the already discounted price. They usually run these about twice a year to clear out mostly seasonal items.

I plan to pick up a pair of ice axes, some assorted climbing gear, and a bunch of cold weather clothing.
