also it would be awesome to meet people who are more experienced. right now i have no friends that are into hiking/hammocking so all the stuff i have learned has been from websites like this, my own trial and error (emphasis on error), and youtube university. some practical hands on know how from some veteran hangers would really give me some piece of mind.

C'mon down Klane! Best way to learn is to hob nob with the goober smoochers. I know that's the way I did. You can only learn so much by reading and watching videos---hands on and up close reinforces that kind of research and makes it more understandable.

It's funny...I've started making all new friends since most of the people I already knew aren't quite as crazy as I am......I've found a BUNCH of people here that are just as..(or more) crazy as I am! Good people.

As mentioned, it's a great way to see other set ups and pick people's brains! Hope to see you there.

The folks on this trip truly are some of the best around. I've seen first hand. You surely wont be disappointed. Let us know if there's something you think you might need or would hold you back from coming out, I'm sure one of us has a spare.

+1 on both the folks and spare gear.

True, but be sure to ask him about the deadly weekend at Fairfield. (A close call for SW, not as good an outcome for the muffins. )

    Or your nose.

    Remember:

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose.

But you can't wipe your friends on the back of the couch.

It wasn't Spaceweaseal who murdered the muffins.

Unless you know something I don't------

Klane, it would be good to meet up. Regardless of all the joking You will be surprised that we can talk endlessly about our gear setups. FYI, I have made all my hammocks, and this will be the FIRST time for my boys and I to actually do a "carry in/carry out" campout. So we will see how well our gear holds up

Another thing to watch out for at group hangs, don't let people touch your suspension system, as it has been known in some groups to smear bacon grease on your lines, to see how "raccoon proof" your suspension is...

I can mostly vouch for the names of those coming on this trip as being above reproach though...

    Take it easy,

Hey gmcpcs, this may go without saying, but please take some time to test your gear with your boys before you get out there on the trail. Nothing will turn someone off from camping quicker than being miserable because your gear doesn't do it's job. (Had this happen last weekend with a couple of guys that thought they would "figure it out" when they got there) They bailed the next day
