    Regular diamond tarp DIY pattern

I have a friend who is handy with a thread injector, that has offered to help me with a few projects.

I found a pattern for a hex tarp I am interested in online, but have had some issues finding a suitable standard diamond tarp design pattern.

If anyone could point me in the right direction that would help a lot!

    Thanks, as always.

Just looking at the guides, once thing that confuses me... If the material comes 60" wide, and I need it 105" wide...how do I make that happen?

The above doodle is my feeble attempt to draw on a smartphone. Basically cut the two triangles back to back, but oriented in opposite directions. The see up the long sides for the ridgeline.

Hopefully someone will post a real picture.

    wider tarp

To make a wider tarp you will need to sew together two pieces of material, using a flat seam, which quadruples the cloth thickness at the seam. That makes the seam a good candidate for your tarp ridgeline. This means a lot of extra sewing. You also need to seam seal that seam, or it will probably leak in the first major rainstorm, right over your hammock.
The design suggested by papasmurf gives a lightweight, minimalist tarp great for backpacking. It gives adequate shelter for most purposes, but must be used with great care (orientation, height, angle) to give good protection for one person. Also the ridgeline will be through the bias of the material, and will be more susceptible to stretch than a seamed ridgeline.
