    Dave Canterbury knot adaptation

Just watched one of his vids which is in this thread and played around with his suspension knot, but I use 12ft x 1in strap instead, and found it to work well.
Step 2, I poked the adjustable loop of my whoopie through the first loop for the knot, and while its through, feed the tail of the strap through the whoopie loop prior to pulling whoopie and strap through first loop to form slip loop with the whoopie now inside the slip loop.....
No toggles, no biners...quick and simple.

It would'nt need to be whoopies. Just a 6ft continuous loop, larksheaded to the hammock, and then overhand knots every foot or so, with the first one right down near the larkhead.
Make the knot with the strap while inserting the continuous loop the whichever overhand knot suits, and the final adjustment is made with the strap slipknot...quick slippery halfhitch and your in dreamland.

Just an idea....what do you think ?

Pics or diagram? I think I know what you're saying and it seems pretty handy.

I get what he's saying but he described it really well I thought...please add pics for the others. There is a similar suspension like this made by I believe grand trunk (maybe wrong about the company) but they have a doubled up strap with loops every 6" or so.

You are basically thinking just the opposite.

The only downfall would be using a knot on the continuous loop. It will derate the strength of the rope you use... I like where your head is at though...

I liked that knot he uses and may find a way to incorporate it into my system somehow. Probably on my tarp.

I love Dave's videos! I was using his modified prussic for tarp suspension for a long time when I got started. I would get out in the woods and forget how to do it. When I'd get home I would refer back to his videos and practice over and over. I've been enjoying his videos and subscribed to his channel since before his Discovery venture. The hook thing is lost on me because that's the first thing to go if I get a hammock equipped with them.

Hopefully, these pics along with Daves vid will clarify.

I used cord instead of my 1in straps because they're busy with a hammock on the back deck.

From that point, adjust the slipknot then put the halfhitch behind the knot to lock it.

Now it makes sense, your just losing the s hook. Pics worked great.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

WOW! Clear as day! When I saw Dave's video, I thought it was a good idea (except for the climbing rope) but I have whoopie slings on all my hammocks. Now, thanks to you, I can try this idea instead of a marlin spike hitch. Who knows, if it works out well, I could lose the toggles or trail sticks.

    Thanks for the pix!
