OK, with pics (so people can check whether I did it correctly)

For the short end (the constrictor or dogbone) I took 115cm (45") of 7/64 dyneema. For the prusik I want a 5,5cm loop with a 8cm bury. For the other end (that goes to my marlin spike hitch) I want a 10cm loop with 11cm bury. That leaves about 42cm (16") for the constrictor part. I weigh 85kg (about 187lb), so that should be enough.

Now lay the short loop over the long end of the UCR and tie a prusik knot (in my case the long end is connected to the hammock):

Repeat the process 2 more times so you get 3 wraps of cord on each side of the center of the prusik:

Now it's time to feed the tail of the long end through the constrictor part of the dog bone. This can only go one way:

A close up of the result:

And this is how it looks when it all hangs:

Hope this clarifies it a bit more to others too.

    Happy hammock days!

I like this. I did mine and tied a knot but putting a prusik there looks much cleaner.

Little update on this: I have been out camping for 4 days and this system worked flawlessly. The prusik held up fine. No slipping what so ever.

    Happy hammock days!
love this ,I have been messing with cord locks instead of knot etc,etc ,with mixed results but I definitely like this idea very clean looking ,the more I use the ucr the more I love the ease of use ,I used to have alot of trouble releasing my whoopies ( operator error mainly) unless I unloaded everything outa my hammock, this for me ay least is the way to go. I have arthritis in both hands so fiddling with a whoopee can be some what difficult especially in the colder weather a ucr definitely solves that problem for me
    always use tree straps please

I build my first real UCR's last night out of 1.75mm Zing-It for ridgeline and 7/64" amsteel for the suspension. I had a "d'oh" moment and ended up with 1 constrictor that is too short to tie off correctly. They don't seem to have any slippage issues. I need to not scrimp on the tail...much easier to shorten it after the fact...a couple inches of amsteel is only a few cents.

It always feels super wasteful to loose a few inches when you're aware of the wonders it can provide.

general question: why can't you substitute a prusik instead of the whole UCR ordeal?

Substitute a Prussic for what? I am using the UCR for an adjustable ridge line and for suspension.

@ rty1138. I have only just built my first UCR with a prussick and hung out for one night so I am not an expert by any means but my understanding is that the prussick only assists the ucr to stop slipping. On its own it would not have enough grip. The ucr grips the amsteel, especially under load. The prussick acts as a back up.
The gurus will chime in if I am wrong. Also prussicks work best when the knot is locking onto a thicker piece. Just my two cents worth.
    Cheers
