Sorry for all the questions - Great tutorial by the way! I was not interested in UCR's but this may have changed my mind.
Correct on length. Amsteel works, my srl ucr is amsteel as that is what was lying around.

    +1 on the great tutorial.

Oh, I have a question, how long do you make the constrictor part? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the short piece I like to cut at about 15"-20" or so to have room to tie the prusik; and the long piece is how ever long you'd like/need depending on your area, that's what goes from hammock to straps.
Amsteel works as well, you'll just need a longer bury.

For the 2mm dynaglide, 5" is good, and for 7/64" amsteel, 6.5"-7" will hold.

    Wow! This is Fantastic

Fantastic & Outstanding Tutorial. This is exactly what I needed and was looking to find. I can't begin to thank you for taking the time and effort. And, for doing it within a day of my post.

I'll be making one today I hope, and I'll know I'll be back with a few questions as well.

    Thanks again.

Very nice. I've never tried it that way, (with the prusik). I put a loop on all four ends and use a safety pin to lock it in place. With the loop on all four ends I never put it on backward. The loop also gives me a place to hang my shoes or what ever.
