That's cool. Got me thinking, another cool way. If someone liked the single continuous ridgline, instead of attaching the tarp via prusiks, you could use the constrictors from the ucr. Could be easier to tighten then with the knots...

It will be interesting. I know I've tried every piece of Dutchware, knots, CRL, & Single lines. So far, this works very simple to adjust the tarp without having the CRL, or having to untie loosen, and then retie.

With this, I just loosen the UCR by a foot. Walked to the other end, & tighten my Dutch Stingerz. The only other con, might be no V for the hammock UCR. I lived without it for many years, so no big deal for me.

I don't worry about the V. Works fine for me without it.

I have rarely kept the V on my suspension.

    Made some tonight...
Second one turned out perfect... First one I had a goof... Didn't have enough extra space on my bury and have a little hanging out... It's on the short piece of rope, the end that gets the tautline hitch thing...

Just aesthetics... But I thought they turned out nice...

Started with about 7' of rope on the long side and 32" on the shorter side...

Pull it back out a bit, cut off the excess and milk it back in.

I've done this a number of times. Thankfully as gmcttr mentioned, a relatively easy fix to making it look pristine!

    1/8 Amsteel Question

I'm making a pair of UCR's with 1/8 Amsteel. 6' on the long piece, and I only had a bury of 9". I finished the one @ 11:30 pm. Of course, I had to test it out. It's slowlyyyyy slipped until I was on my Ѡ.

What do you think would be a good length for the bury to use. I'm thinking 15".

    Thanks

I am coming to the party late, but I had a thought. I didn't read every entry, so this might have been kicked around already.

What if on the tail piece where you are making the prusik, you instead make a small loop, (short bury with a couple of locking stitches maybe) then attach something like a loop of zing-it to that to make the prusik? As I recall, in a perfect world the diameter of the prusik knot line should be smaller than the line it is attached to. Would that make it less likely to release by accident? Just an untested idea.
