    Thread Injector Repair Question

I have a ~20 year old Necchi 525FA "thread injector" that I need to fix. It has been oiled, and the motor runs smoothly, but the inner hand wheel is stuck to the external hand wheel, and the bobbin threader won't spin. I think the two problems are linked.

I don't see any stuck material/thread anywhere, but am hesitant to pull the lower part of the casing off. Are any of you familiar with repair? After searching a while online to no avail, I might break down and buy a machine repair guide.

Best of luck with that... I'm mechanically adept, and it's been my experience that I can reassemble almost anything I can take apart. However, in the case of a complex sewing machine... I'd probably do some basic teardown and if I didn't see anything, I'd put it all back and take it to a pro...

If someone familiar with Necchi's doesn't answer, you might want to join and ask the sewing machine group on wefixit.

If you end up going to a pro for repair, I can highly recommend A1 Sewing Machine Repair in Tucker. I know that LaVista and I285 is quite a ways from Bulldog Central but they will do the job.

Thank you, all. I will give Big Jeff's suggestion a try and take it to A1 if that fails. Tucker is closer than Colorado, which is where it would have to go otherwise. Will keep you posted.

One of the best things I found for working on my old sewing machines is a blow dryer. Open it up and add some heat. I don't know about doing this with a plastic geared machine, but it works great with metal gears.
