    USPS Blew It

Got a shipment notification Monday for my new HammockGear 20* Burrow, extra wide, 2 oz overstuff. Was SUPER excited to try it out after a month or so wait. It'll come in handy in our very long, very cold stretches here in Denver this year.

After about 12 hours of tracking, though, things stopped moving (or at least showing as moving) and never show as leaving Ohio (HammockGear's home state).

I contacted USPS and they said it takes a full week before they show it as lost - so if it isn't here miraculously on Monday, I'll have to figure out how to address things with HammockGear. I already sent them an email/PM as a note to see how to proceed - I'm assuming/hoping that they insure their shipments so it's a 0 issue and they can expedite making me a new one and re-shipping it out to me.

All I can do is say that USPS continues to disappoint. I know they're often the cheapest to ship but I've never been super happy with their service. That, and I imagine there's a very warm mailman out there somewhere.

This sounds like a bad dream I had once. I hope the package appears in its rightful place soon! Orphaned HG quilts: very bad!

Same thing happened to me with my incubator. Priority shipping is 2-3 days. After 3rd day with no update, I called and they said priority can take 4-5 days and they wouldn't do anything until then. Kinda defeats the purpose of priority shipping.

I know, right! Did it end up making it to you eventually?

This is what I found on the HG site regarding shipping: HG FAQ

What is your normal shipping method in Continental US?
Unless you request signature confirmation or insurance, your package will be sent via USPS Priority without insurance. We will provide you with tracking confirmation numbers. Assuming USPS shows delivery confirmation, if you don't have signature confirmation or insurance, we cannot assist you in recovery of your package if it is misplaced, taken by the milk man, etc. So if you have special shipping needs, please contact us before the package ships, as we can take no responsibility for packages designated as delivered by the carrier.
FedEx is preferred for rush deliveries, and by request.

I had them use FedEx. USPS is awful with tracking. I've had packages in my hand and they say they are across the country.

That's unfortunate... it doesn't show anywhere near being delivered, though, so I'm assuming that USPS/HG will make it right if it still shows as lost in transit. It's one thing if it says it got to my doorstep and I dispute that. It's another if it's showing as having left Ohio with no arrival/scan anywhere after that.

Anyone out there been in a similar circumstance?

I have had similar experience, but not with HG, just USPS. Showed that it was hung up, then the next time I checked, the package was on the way. I wouldn't get too upset just yet......RR

I agree with RR. I have found that most packages I have tracked through USPS do not show movement. There is the initial check-in, then nothing until it is delivered. My guess is that it is indeed on its way to you. Be patient...hopefully it will show up soon.

Yeah it made it to me a few days later. I know it is no fault of HG, but I am very impatient and after waiting a month for the quilt, it sucked to think it was lost when the truth was usps treated it more like parcel post then priority.
