I looked at the MSR twin Brothers tent before deciding to go custom.
I wanted something a little longer.

Wo! That's real nice. Would you mind telling what materials you used, etc.? Did you start with a stock piece of gear and modify it, or is it basically from scratch?

OES built the custom tarp, 2QZQ made the custom Nth degree GrizBeak and installed the pole mods, Karfu made the stove, and I installed the stove jack. HTH

Thanks for the post and pics.
Been contemplating using a tent stove inside of a tarp for some time, but no idea if the tarp would be long enough or the wall at an angle enough to get the exhaust pipe to the outside. You've given me some good idea of extending the tarp a little for an extra vestibule, which will also sort out the wall angle problem.
Do you think I could use a cuben fiber tarp, and will put up with the heat from the pipe and stove?
And how heavy and long is your stove? If its too small, obviously it wont heat the inside very much, but also if its too light, perhaps the strength of the stove will be a factor?

I have been watching this his vids, like the setup. But sure wonder how much stirring around in the night there would be trying to keep a fire, or going to bed at 70-80* and the fire going out and having to bundle up for early morning temps.

Don't know about everyone, but all the years I've used a hot tent, I let the fire burn out as I fall asleep. Don't know if you've ever been in a hot tent, but since all that is separating you from the cold is a thin piece of fabric, once that fire dies down just a little, the temp inside will drop fast, making sleeping in your appropriate gear easy. Then when you wake up, you have a nice pile of coals that will easily light back up to get dressed and make breakfast. I would just roll over to it, never even getting out of my sleeping bag. Now with my Smokehouse tarp and hammock, all I have to do is stick my arm out to re light the stove.

That is a beautiful rig! I tried to squeeze my WBRR into the Twin Brother yesterday and DANG...came up about 3 ft short (to get the Y lines inside). Will try the MSR w a GE (GTSBP), but as I hoped to use my WBRR for hot tenting, I'm going to fit test a Kelty Noah 16 next.

Sweet rig! Since I don't have a suitable stove or 'tent-tarp' just yet, I have battened-down my Superfly with doors, and used two Bushbuddys, one at each end (well, actually a BB and an Emberlit) as wood stoves about an hour before sleep. Heats the whole rig nicely, and no need to worry about burning the whole thing to the ground while I am in it! Plus, I can backpack everything if I don't want to take my Pulk.

    Winter hammocking can be FUN!

really nice setup. Did you end up in much snow, and if so how stressed was the tarp? I suppose it's made of silnylon 1.9?
