    Whoopie sling length?

I notice that the shortest you ever see a whoopie sling being sold is 6'. I was wondering if you could safely go shorter? I have a ridge runner, I'll be shortening the triangles, but I'd like to go with Whoopie Slings for weight, but need the fixed end shorter than usual if possible. Any advice? Thx!

Not really sure what you mean? The whoopie slings can be made to any length you want, if you want the adjustable length shorter chop part off.the only restrictions are on the bury for the adjustable end. If you dont want the bury length of the fixed eye splice then you could try a knot instead?

Going shorter should not affect safety.
The tension on the whoopie should be the same long or short.

I think one of us is confused.
The 6' length is in regards to how much adjustability you have. You can have any length you'd like.
The 14" of bury you can't change unless you move to smaller cord. Dynaglide for example is only 2mm, so it's needs less constriction to hold. You can do a 5" bury instead of a 6.5-7" needed for 7/64 amsteel.

If you get into that tight of a spot, larks head a continuous loop to the hammock, and wrap that over the toggle, using the marlin spike hitch as your adjustments.

I think my question has been answered. I didn't realize the 6' referred to the amount of adjust-ability. I want to shorten the non adjustable end where the fixed loop is. I'll be making my own shortly. Thanks again everyone.
