I was just thinking a womens down parka may be a better option because it would be 3/4 length and no sewing jackets together. I just havent looked into that other than the patagonia sale today. At that price you can get a nice quilt made for it. Think about it 10oz for this much quilt.

I am going to be fussing with ideas with the JCPenny jackets as my spring fall option, possibly summer option. For me being ultra-lightweight in some things and lightweight in others is important. In addition to that gear should serve multiple purposes. a 4xLT if it isnt torn up could serve as a jacket too. When i get things figured out i'll post images. My goal is to be simple in how i attach it to the underside of the hammock.possibly run a loop of shock cord thru the arm sleeves to where the suspension meets the hammock material and a could little shock cords with dutchware quilt clips. If things get bad out i can throw it on for warmth. It will not look nearly as cool as what you sewing guys have done but I like that it retains other functionality.

Finished up the quilt last night and suspension this morning. I laid in it for a while at 40 Deg (very light wind) and it was about its max for "comfotable" but as it started dropping I could feel the start of CBS. So I put my 2 spare front panels in between the UQ and my hammocka nd withing 3 minutes I was back to toasty warm already. The low tonight is supposed to be 30 so I will let you know how it does.

I started working on my Top Quilt today

here is my idea I removed the sleeves from 1 Jacket , sewed the collar closed and sewed the arm holes closed now I have my footbox Done

    It is about 34" long

My plan is to add a back panel to it and then add snaps or velcro to the other end to match up with another un altered jacket that will velcro or snap to it.

This way I can wear it unattached as a jacket or when in top quilt mode it will be attached so that the back of the jacket will cover me and the front panels will cover my sides it should be abou 72 " long and my arms can go into the sleeves for reading or lounging

The jacket will be worn backwards when used as a quilt

I will post pics tomorrow if I get it done

Finished my puffer UQ today and the wife has decided it makes a great lap quilt. We have a spaniel that is always cold and she suggested taking one of the sleeves and making him a vest. I stuck it on his head to see how far back I would need to cut it and he turned around, jumped up on her lap and went to sleep. He's been there for an hour now.
