Also, just in case anyone was curious...a xxl jacket with the sleeves removed and in the stuff sack weighed 7.8 Oz.

Below is a picture of it next to a soda can for size reference...note I squished this bad boy to about the size of small softball.

just a prediction, but I think this would be perfect for 45-50 f and above.

I agree. I tested mine today with a nap at 50 wearing a t shirt and shorts and covering with my tq. It was comfy. I'm sure with warm clothes and the uq protector I could take it into the 30's

Yes, removing the sleeves but they could be left on and tucked inside. With a little creativity and velcro the jackets could be left intact. I bought a couple extra ones to wear though . I'm guessing the weight is around 20 oz's but that isn't confirmed. The weight of the xl with sleeves and stuff sack with heavy metal clip on the string was about 10 ozs
On a side note this has made a nice, lightweight, full lenght uq for me and has a built in foot box ( 4 in fact- the squared off section where the sleeves were removed)

Would it have been easier to get two vest and sew them together??? Then you don't have to take the sleeves off. I ask, because I may want to get two vests instead of two jackets.

I am in the process of turning the sleeves in to something similar to the JRB down sleeves, and the remaining vest in to an uq.

I seen those Jackets today in JCP.. they had 3 left. one blue XL, 2 Orange XL. $20.00 each. temping to buy all three..

Figure can use one as a layer for sleeping.. They show GOOSE down.. not feathers for fill. Nice making it into a UQ..

This will strictly be a summer quilt for me, so my plan is to cut out the back panels of two jackets, sew the bottoms together, and add suspension.
I'm going to remove the sleeves so I can have down sleeves for the winter, and remove the down from the front panels to make a pillow or two out of.

This is a great idea. I was trying to figure a way to make the "to be"underquilt more rectangular. This solves that and I gain a pillow! Nice.
