I have decided to make a hammock and I was wondering if I could get some does and don'ts in the process of making the hammock. Or just random ideas that I could try out. Any comments/ideas are greatly appreciated.

A tablecloth hammock is quite possibly the easiest method.
All sides are already hemmed. All you need to do is whip the ends and throw some suspension on it.
Hi, welcome to the addiction!
There are some things you need to consider before you start. How do you plan to use the hammock? Will you be car camping, backpacking, or just lounging around in your backyard? Is weight/fabric a concern? Do you want a gathered-end or bridge hammock? What sort of DIY skills do you have? Do you own or have access to a sewing machine? Quite possibly, the easiest DIY hammock to make is a tablecloth hammock. Do some browsing through the DIY sub-forum--lots of great ideas there!
Good luck!
