Hi. My wife and I have been taking our three kids on canoe trips into Algonquin Park since they were newborns; youngest is now 8 and eldest is 13. All of us are pretty experienced campers.
My brother-in-law is a scout leader. Two summers ago he introduced us to Hennessy shelters, which his family uses. Wife & I knew right then we would be making the switch to hammocks, it was only a matter of time. The time has arrived. Said brother-in-law gave our youngest a Hennessy Cub for Christmas. We since took advantage of the Hennessy 2-for-1 deal and outfitted our other two with an Expedition Asym Classic and another Cub.
Being a dyed-in-the-wool DIYer, I'm considering making tableclothsfactory.com hammocks for wife & I, or maybe a double for us both. I also have ropeworking skills and finished my first pair of woopieslings just the other night. (Saves so much weight and bulk compared to the stock Hennessy suspension. Will be very easy to set up in the field, too. All-round great idea!)
I'm looking forward to trying out all our new kit this year. In recent years I found that I needed thicker and thicker sleeping pads to keep myself from becoming an aching, grumpy bear. It wasn't really working, to be honest!
