    Like croco dome says....double layer
also keeps those pesky biting insects, mossies, horse flies etc, from using you as a human pin cushion...

Pretty much what everyone else has said. For me the biggest one is no bugs being able to bite through it. I've also put insulbrite between the layers for some extra warmth.

i have both 1.7SLT and 1.9DLT from WB i find the single layer is way more comfortable im not sure why maybe cause it stretches but it defiantly is. i have used foam insulation on the DL and my first reason for buying it as i could`nt afford a UQ, but could`nt get comfortable using pads also the SL seems to be warmer in summer goes against what you would think but it seems to be... i have a bug net so skeeters dont bother me either way, and have since bought a UQ for the SL and is my go to hammock for all seasons hope this helps ya out oh and i guess its about what you weigh im just under 6 ft and im about 190 and have had no problems with the SL holds up fine

Like others have said. A double layer adds more options. We have our fancy under quilts and they are great but sometimes you just need more. Having a double layer to slide that pad in between when either the UQ isn't enough or you just cant get it right can save your butt! I went with a 1.0 weight, the lightest possible fabric for Dbl. that I can find so far. I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking the double layer will buy me some time before I get the UQ.

    Get them both

I'm always one for having the widest range of options available. I'd get both. You could swap them out depending on conditions (i.e. bugs or no, high heat vs. cool/cold).

And if you end up only using one primarily, then you can sell the other one here and get most of your money back out of it.

I have a rr double. The compression of the u q is none no matter what i do to the hang. I have not had a single in a bridge, but the gathered end could compress the down if not adjusted right.

Can't really do that with a double. One would have to go where the opening is. It could be done, just the opening would be floppy.
    It'll be alright Friday!
