I tend to be one who checks and re-checks before I leave a site but I have also read about enough people having/nearly left theirs that I am hoping it is seared into my brain!
Except for when it happens!!

Welcome to the club... the local BSA camp, about 80 miles from home, consumed a nice set of Warbonnet tree straps. I miss them, and think of them fondly . . .

dang, it bites to forget something so important as the straps...makes me want to carry a spare set just in case!!
The only good thing about having florescent orange straps is that they make it harder forget. I haven't forgotten any yet, but have found them on the trees several times during my last look around.
I havent yet left mine in the woods, but I have gotten to the woods and found I had left them at home. Luckily a few wraps of extra cord saved me from a night on the ground. I now have bright orange straps that may keep me from leaving them on the trees, you can see those things from a mile away
I haven't forgotten mine yet, but I've been close. Then, I read this thread:

It convinced me to make one of these packs and label the pockets. I'm hoping this will be sufficient reminder so I "always remember, and please never forget" (quote from TV show One Day at a Time).
I left my huggers hanging in Big Bear once. Came back 6 months later and they were still hanging there with a little sap and webs but otherwise fine. I forgot that I had forgotten them. It was like xmas but in the woods...

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.
I always use a somewhat numbering system in my head
I have a Total number of items to pack Let's Say
Tarp ( Ridgeline is attached and so is snakeskin) =1
Hammock =2
Straps =3 and 4
If I pack 4 I know I'm not forgetting anything
This system has worked very well in the past especially when I was toting around my son's band where leaving a peice behind could mean a thousand dollar guitar or amplifier
If I remember right the band number was 18
try it it works especially after CRS disease sets in CRS= Can't Remember Stuff
"HANGING OUT" has taken on a whole NEW MEANING
Yessir....done that myself. Now I hang them around my neck as I take down the hammy. Without fail so far.........

SGT Rock's UCR system that you are using is the best I've seen yet but it would be possible to eliminate the lower Whoopie Hooks and attach the UCRs directly to the hammock. Especially as you are using the tiny drip cloths. That way it would, once again, be impossible to forget your suspension.
