Dos,
I appreciate the links but I actually mean in or very close to Vegas. I am flying out two days before a gambling trip and want to hang or tent camp in or around the city somewhere safe. Stealth hangs appreciated.
check my friend Bob's site and book.
He is quite knowledgeable.

hmmmm....if you find somewhere, I'd love to know. I live right next to UNLV
and about a mile from the strip.
I have seen a few horse trails right between Henderson and Las Vegas City limits (easily reached by bus) but I can't say I've never seen anyone camping or if camping is allowed.
I could also ask a buddy of mine from the Las Vegas Hikers Meet Up group.
hmmmm.......

Red rock canyon!
there are parts of red rocks that aren't in the "park" that do allow camping. i think you can camp for free in the black velvet canyon area for instance. red rocks climbers do stay in a campground near red rocks that is operated by the park service, it's basically a giant gravel parking lot with designated sites, you'd have a fire ring and and a picnic table. not a very nice campground, but cheaper than a hotel. all of those options near/around red rocks are a solid 45min from the strip.
anyone else have any Red rock canyon area ideas? Much appreciated info here - trip coming up at the end of October...
You don't HAVE TO be crazy to be here - But I assure you it will help.....
It's a bit of a drive, but mt. Charleston is a beautiful area. Not sure what regulations there are out there about camping, but it is worth a visit. I spent one day on the strip and the rest of the week out there.
