My Gear List for review. Suggestions/Comments appreciated.

    Hi,
I have a list of a gear I'd like to share, curious if I am missing anything...

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...2FQRGxVQ0N3SEE

    I just ordered UQ
    I don't have:

-hammock (will try some out before buying, just putting the most favorable one;same for other gear)
    -TQ
    -Compass
    -Trekking Poles

Goal: Hike oriented, travel light, see as much, maybe some tru hikes in future after getting familiar with gear and my own abilities.

From my understanding I need a sit pad. Anything else I am missing?

It all seems pretty good. I like your choices. I tend to like larger tarps (especially if its the only one) but the edge is a great tarp.

I just skimmed over it, so I might have missed it, but I'd suggest a headlamp if you don't have that on there. I saw the flashlight, but a headlamp is a must as far as I'm concerned (it's nice to be able to use both hands)

Not sure that you would need to carry a blanket if you have both a TQ and an UQ?

Can't read the list (blocked at work) so I can't comment on much. I don't think you "need" a sit pad. I never take one. Extra weight. Use your hammock as a chair.

I could see the need for a chair if you go to yellowstone you are required to sleep 500ft from your cooking area. And anything you use in your cooking area has to go into the bear bag. (Yes that does include your clothes to so you have to wear a new set of clothes to sleep in.) What I would have given for an extra hammock. But a sit pad does nicely.

Hey Wiktor, I grew up in Parker! Went to Franktown HS!!

Anyway, I saw you listed bear spray and a bear container. Where do you plan on hiking? I see a lot of people in the east go a little crazy with the bear stuff, but IMHO it is overkill for a lot of the areas we hike in here. Just saying HYOH.

I use a 12"x12" cut square of ccf for a sit pad. I like to have something under my bum, expecially since I hike in a kilt. But that works for me. Plus, I have slipped into my UQ when I have CBS and have been thankful for it.

Are you new to backpacking? If so, take lots of frequent, short trips, and you will tweak your system to your liking. I can promise you will want to swap out some gear after a few trips.....

    Good luck!!

I'm all for a small sit pad. Mine is 18"x12". I use it on pack breaks, sitting my the stream meditating, lots of places. At night it's either under my feet in the hammock or in the ground to stand on.

For cool weather, a light neck gaitor is great.

I agree with a headlamp. Ditch the flashlight.

I always have a windshell. 4-6 oz can't be beat for adding warmth. I like one with a hood.

Just load up and go...keep a journal of what works and doesn't, what you use and don't. This way you'll get your kit dialed in.

Sitpad - an idea from shug's video to sit and use where no uq (torso length) covers me.
Edge tarp - cheapest and lightest from warbonnet. If it doesn't work I'll save for cuben.
Flashlight - it's amazing one, 315 lumens, i ordered a headband for it. I know it's bit heavy but with headband I should be set.

I'll be hiking from mon afternoon after school with two nights out to return to school on wed morning
