I never really did get a comfortable nights sleep in a tent and so i started thinking that there's got to be a better way. Did some searching on the internet and eventually found out about hammock camping. now im a hanger. the end.

I'm sure you guys have nerves heard a story like mine!?

I'm a big guy and have tried lots of different ways to enjoy camping! After many failed attempts I was on the net looking for an alternative ! When I found a few fellows on You Tube that were almost as big as myself hanging! And I figured I might as well give this a shot! So far I have no complaints, and as of now just have a diy gathered end hammock!

That's my story! And I'm glad to be where!

    Terry

I have a bad back. When I would sleep on the ground, waking up to put on my boots was a task. Hammock alleviated that, plus a better nights rest.

Mines pretty simple. Was shopping around on the net for some various camping tools, (Flashlights, knifes, ropes, packs, ect) Found what looked like a very nice hammock for sale for only 20$ and bought it figuring it would be a lot of fun to hang in the back yard for reading a book or just kicking back. After I received it I soon realized to hang it isnt as easy as just slapping a rope up on a few trees so and that I would want some pretty strong, non strecthy, sun resistant rope if I was going to be leaving it hanging a lot. And thats when I found this forums and amsteel. And now because I like my hammock to much I never leave it hanging unless Im using it. Haha.

My buddy always brought his when we were rock climbing and realized how comfortable it was. The rest is history still own a tent, but haven't used it in about two years.

I decided to replace the uncomfortable foldable metal futon I have been sleep on for 8 months with a hammock, one because the futon was breaking and was ruining my sleep, and two because I was having a bed bug problem and I figured im would be fine if they couldn't get to me (I was right). So now the rest of my family has to deal with the bugs, but I'm fine. Sleep is better, and I'm bite free.

I've been trying to lighten my load. Then a buddy of mine bought an ENO. I sleep in it on the porch a couple of nights. Finally, after my last two sleepless trips camping on the ground I said forget this and jumped. I just ordered a new TB with Papa Smurf over at Dream Hammocks. Now just to figure out what to do about a tarp and Quilts....

I love the outdoors and just started hunting about a year ago and really enjoyed the time to recharge and get away from all the crazy. After running across Shug's videos on youtube and thought it would be fun going out in the piney woods for a night or two.
