With my deflated air pad, the comfort level was unbelievable.
After staying on a mountain for seven days with a tent and sliding off my air pad in the middle of the night, you appreciate the level that a hammock is capable of giving. Hammocks also offer a lot of versitility too.

    took a while

I actually came across Hennessy Hammocks years ago at the Outdoor Retailers Summer Trade Show in Salt Lake City. I thought they looked pretty cool but I was busy trying to get canoe orders and didn't take the time to learn more. That was a mistake on my part. I spent years more in a tent. I was working on ways to lighten my load several years ago and bought a Hennessy hammock having never even tried one. That first hang in the back yard was enough to convince me this was the way to go. I still have a number of tents and recently upgraded (reduced the weight) of my solo backpacking tent to a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 1 and my pad to a ThermaRest Neoair. There are places I pack that trees are not an option. If there are trees, I'll be in a hammock!

For me it was curiosity and the belief that there had to be a better way. After having spent 7 years overseas I came back with no camping gear and a son with desires to camp We got a tent and a few bags and headed out. I came home hurting all over stiff and sore. That sent me looking and, though I don't remember how now, I came across HH on youtube. I did some research and for a newbie found an all in one deal (hammock, tarp, suspension) like HH has was the way for me to go. Then just about the time I was going to buy Christmas presents they had there buy a hammock get a scout free and now you know the rest of the story.

    This forum did it, really.
Allemachtig what an amount of information! And helpfulness. And enthusiasm. And information.

I want to see if I can get as comfortable as many people say they are, and can be only in a hammock. I really got infatuated with the idea of hanging, and figuring out what works for me, without any previous hammocking experience.

And it is not out of any necessity; I have no herniated disks, I camp maybe once a year (would camp quite a lot more if I had more time) and when I camp then yeah, I am a little uncomfortable and stiff when I wake up, but nothing horrible and dramatic.

Such is the power of this forum and its participants, that it can turn me from not having a single hammock on my radar to hardly being able to wait for my hammock to arrive and get hangin'!

Went on a retreat and half of the people were sleeping on ENO's. I got interested and in doing research found HF. I'm not the kind of guy to settle for just store bought so i started looking into all of this and viola! The excitement is just beginning.

It was a college ministry retreat. Bunch of college students. They weren't serious hangers, but still enjoyed it nonetheless!

I was studying at The University of Latin American Science and Technology and just ended up sleeping in a hammock instead of a bed. It was awesome, I could just roll it up and take it with me. It's sooooo much better than a bed! )
