Ive been spending night`s out since i was 10 most of the time i was carp fishing but me and friend would often go off in to the wood light a fire and sleep under the stars, as i got more in to bush craft thing changed and i switched between small tent`s and bivvy bags to tarp`s, all was fine but as you get older every thing hurts a little more when you wake in the morning

so after watching many youtube vids i decided to get a hammock and see what all the fuss was about, boy had i been missing out. it`s not just the comfort but it feel`s so more in tune with your surroundings and rather than feeling like an intruder hanging around in the tree`s make`s me feel like I'm part of the wood`s.

    Too funny!

Was it Sprite that you saw at Afton?

I go camping with my dog Kiba all the time and she loves sleeping in the hammock. We're going back to Afton Thursday night to enjoy the warm night.

    What made me a "hanger"

My son received an ENO as a present for reaching the rank of Eagle Scout. He kept talking about how comfortable the hammock was and I began researching hammocks. I didn't find one negative comment about sleeping in hammocks and then decided to try it for myself. I bought an ENO Double Nest, Dry Fly and bug net last February and have slept great ever since. I love it and I get the best sleep I've had on camp outings. I also love the weight - I've reduced my pack weight by 5 lbs! Now I'm trying to figure out how to stay warm in 20 degree weather.

Spent over 100 nights in tents and tarps with cubs, scouts and explorers. Tried a string hammock for one night in a chilly november, had a great night's sleep and woke up very warm and refreshed. Final trigger came after sleeping in a very cramped grass area behind another group's scout hut on young leader training, when it turned out my tent had been pitched over a manhole. From there, I did a bit of research, found this forum and spent the £30 I earnt looking after people's horses over christmas on a cheap trekmates hammock and a tarp.

There is no way to beat the comfort level then being in a hammy, you take every single pressure point off your body. Simply blissful.

Yeah, man! I have been trying to decide whether or not to take my hammock on a backpacking trip in NE GA in two weeks because of the temps. But after joining this forum and reading about what to do, you bet I'm taking it. Can't wait for that "blissful" sleep!

In fifth grade I had a hammock hooked up to my bunk bed and slept in it every night. After learning that you could camp outside in a hammock, I decided to start hammocking again.

Got into overnight kayaking. Needed to reduce pack weight. While kayaks carry more than ultralight hikers, you've still got to pack smart and trim weight where you can. Plus I take a pretty good deal of fishing gear. Kept seeing hammocks in sporting good stores, started reading up on it, tried it, liked it.
