I came across this thread in the search and figured its worth a try. I picked up a 1" tear in my 1.6 oz fabric hammock. Location of tear is on the bottom at the midpoint. I'm thread injector challenged and was wondering if this would be a good solution for a fix. Thanks.

Personally I would not trust it, however that is just my cautious opinion. The problem is that when you get a rip, the fibers around it are also damaged, not just what you see but damage you need a magnifying glass to see.

I damaged my ENO, I was going to repair the side with Tenacious Tape, however, I decided it was not worth risking a fall, if the fabric ripped further.
Once the weave is damaged, it is possible for the surrounding area to not be as reliable, you could cut the repair patch larger to give added support, but I would not trust it, especially from your description of where it is.

I am sure you know this, always cut the patch larger than the hole, rip or weak spot.

Paulie, I used Tenacious Tape to attach magnets to my 1.9 ripstop hammock (don't ask why - it's off-topic) and later removed them. The adhesive residue did not come off and collected dirt. Now I've got black smudges. They don't affect the hammock's performance, but they look ugly. Nevertheless, I'd use TT top and bottom to patch your 1" rip immediately. Just leave it on.

    Tenacious Tape

The hole is actually very minor…it's about 1/4" by 1/8" in a noseeum mesh stuff sack. This is why I have no problem trying the Tenacious Tape on BOTH sides of the hole. Thanks for the info regarding residue!

I just use a needle and some black thread and stitch the bugnetting hole back together, have tons of little sewing repairs on my old tents.

if you do not have seam sealer, a dab of silicone caulk ,will be fine. mixed with a bit of thinner, even better.

Love this stuff... I've used it to patch tears in tarps and rain gear several times. I prefer the CLEAR color, also on rain gear and tarps at least ... tape the UNDER SIDE ... not the top or outer side.

My family now uses Tenacious Tape for all sorts of repairs. Having the area for the patch as clean as possible helps adhesion. Follow the instructions, cut the patch larger than the damaged area, curve the edges, press down the Tenacious Tape down from the center outward, press out air bubbles. The TT will continue to form a stronger bond for a few hours. I have been using TT for two years on all sorts of repairs, even a motorcycle wind screen, the tape held firm.

Did you round it out? If there are corners, they will eventually peel up. Ovals are great things.
