15°, snowy gear test in STL!

Its 15 degrees in the Lou, just started snowing slightly, little to no wind. I think its the perfect time to test out gear. I've never had this gear setup below freezing, no wind, clear skies so this will really put it to the test.

What I'll be hanging with for an hour or two:
-HH Scout with rain fly that comes with
    -Bubble reflectix pad
-CCF pad, egg shaped from Walmart
    -35 degree down bag
    -cocoon silk bag liner
-long sleeve under armor layer, light fleece on top
-wool socks, loose comfy sweat pants on bottom
-i may use an extra jacket to cover any cold spots

Im seeing how far this will take me without using an under quilt. Report coming soon! I thought this may help anyone with close to the same gear as far as insulation, I would rather share each test to the community because there are so many variations and ideas we can offer, call it learning on a curve!

Figured it would be best to run to bank before snow defeated my mazda's odds of a safe drive.

Hammock hung, insulation set and here I lay within the confines of my backyard nice and toasty for now.

Made a few minor adjustments. I also have a neck warmer/half face mask with me, keeps a nice draft away from my neck and should I pull it over my mouth I can breathe a few hot breaths and get my whole face warm. Replaced fleece with a GoLite Cady jacket. Also replaced loose sweat pants with cycling pants. I'd say they are equivalent to a medium base layer but they have a padded butt so we'll see how warm they keep me.

I'll update in an hour or so

Nothing but warmth coming from this setup. Everything is working swimmingly well. Even slightly sweating on upper torso a bit. The only thing I might want to consider adding is another layer of socks, or possibly booties, or even just a jacket stuffed into my foot box. Feet aren't cold, but not as warm as the rest of my body.

Keep in mind that there has been little to no wind. I'd say there is a slight breeze with gusts around 7 mph blowing through. Very manageable.

Yippee for the no UQ winter hanger.

Your insulation setup sounds about the same as mine. Glad to see another pad-user. I noticed some coolness on my back during the last test, but everything felt dry to the touch and I had fleece liner and mummy bag as a topquilt all tucked in under me. My only guess is that it was a minimal amount of condensation. Has this been your experience today as well?

Haven't noticed any condensation during any of my tests. Only a tad bit of sweat on my armpits that may have migrated to my back or side depending on how I was laying. Only cold spots I noticed was parts of my pad that I had not been laying over to get warm yet
