Its 15 degrees in the Lou, just started snowing slightly, little to no wind. I think its the perfect time to test out gear. I've never had this gear setup below freezing, no wind, clear skies so this will really put it to the test.
What I'll be hanging with for an hour or two:
-HH Scout with rain fly that comes with
-Bubble reflectix pad
-CCF pad, egg shaped from Walmart
-35 degree down bag
-cocoon silk bag liner
-long sleeve under armor layer, light fleece on top
-wool socks, loose comfy sweat pants on bottom
-i may use an extra jacket to cover any cold spots
Im seeing how far this will take me without using an under quilt. Report coming soon! I thought this may help anyone with close to the same gear as far as insulation, I would rather share each test to the community because there are so many variations and ideas we can offer, call it learning on a curve!
