    what knot to use?

Im looking for a good knot to use to connect my tree straps to 1 smc ring. Dont want the clips and didnt really want two rings at both ends, so Im looking for a quick release knot to use on the rings. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Clove hitch works well. Instead of pulling the working end through, make a bight and pull that through to make it slipped.

May want to read about Bonepile's SRS, Single Ring Suspension.

I think what your looking for is a slippery bunt line hitch. Its a bunt line with the middle fed into the knot instead of the end on the last part of the knot. You will find it simple to tie ,and untieing is a matter of pulling the tail. I believe its a sail binding knot. I like to use a sight called animated knots.com.good luck.

I'm going to assume the smc ring is permanently on the hammock, that said you could connect the strap to the ring via the "line locker" method. In this video I did it with an elephant trunk but simply imagine the ET as an smc ring, you'll just need a reasonably stout toggle. Within the linked thread are some other links if the ET video isn't clear.
I haven't hung from an smc ring using this method, but I have played with it, pulling as hard as I can etc. and it seems to hold fine. Proceed with caution.
    Good luck,
