I can move my arrival time back to 11 to 12 and leave earlier. Looks like with the road walk from the parking lot to the trail head to be about 4 miles into the shelter at Stratton Pond. Last night I found a recent blog describing the snowy hike in and the shelter.

The trail to Stratton pond is about 3.9 from the Stratton Pond Trailhead, which won't be accessible by car at the time of this trip. You will have about a mile road walk (on a snowmobile trail) from the parking area (Stratton mountain trailhead of the AT/LT). So the hike in will be more like 4.8 miles, call it 5 miles with finding a campsite. If you guys plan to hike around to the north shore tenting area it will be more as well...Originally Posted by jpkeo
