Joann's is a local fabric store...

    http://www.joann.com/

If you don't have one near you, what do you have?

Last I checked, their ripstop was $7.99 a yard, which is steep, but if you can find a 50% off coupon . . . You'd need 7 to 7.5 yards (7 yds makes a 10.5' hammock... before hemming...)

    PS: Found this:
    Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft # 1646
    555 John F Kennedy Rd Ste 101
    Dubuque, IA 52002-5258

If you sign up online, they will email you coupons, if you download the Iphone or android app, you can download them and use them in the store.

If you don't find what you want there, http://backwoodsdaydreamer.com has great fabrics.

Check the book The Ultimate Hang by Derek Hansen. Also if you haven't checked any of them out I would recommend watching some of Shug videos...

Yes there is a Joanns in town here. And I have watched snugs videos on youtube I think that's who to blame for getting me started in this lol. So I would need a double layer 1.9 and about 10 yards?

Check out the plans for a double layer design here: http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/diy-guides/hammock/ . I have used those plans for my first DIY and it turned out well. They are also a good source for fabrics and other supplies. Scott is a great guy to work with too.

You can make a single layer out of the 2.8 plain weave nylon he sells if you want to go that route and have a little more confidence in the capacity. I am a fan of double layers, though. I sort of have both with the Magna-Hammock.

Good luck, have fun, and hold on!
