Dos was a fun read:
Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)
Regarding the PCT - journals:
Chop/Beardoh!, nobo 2012 - started on the ground, but went back to his hammock at Belden (PCT mile ~1289)...
Luke Sierrawalker, sobo 2012 - hammock the whole way except a couple of nights...
Also see HF threads re. PCT:
Chop, start at #10 after he finished & see his other following comments...
guySmiley, start at #17 to see his 'after' hike comments (ignore much of the off-topic posts & replies!)...
And an old pct-l post by Roni from Israel...
HYOH! (hike/hang your own hike/hang)
Hiking (and hanging) the Pacific Crest Trail - 2014 (Nobo starting April 2!! )
"Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time." - Steven Wright
[Note/clarification: any or all of the above signature lines are NOT meant to be an affront to anyone in any way! - simply means that I am very excited to finally be attempting a PCT thru-hike in 2014, and attempting to hang the entire way, too!! Thank you.]
++1 for Certain!
Great info! I will pull up their journals
I'm following a friend (Buckeye Cornelius) on the AT this year, currently he's ground dwelling but about 3 days before he left, I converted him so he got online and purchased all his hammock items and had them shipped to me. I've spent the last couple of days making up all his tarp rigging, whoopies, etc. and putting it all together. I'll ship out to him Monday morning and he'll make his conversion while on the trail.
Here's his trailjournal entry where he talks about making the change over on trail:
He did it up right, a HG cuben tarp and UQ, WB XLC, Dutchgear rigging supplies. I'll do a
final setup this afternoon before I pack it all up for shipping and snap a pic or two and post.
P.S. Any words of encouragement you might offer on his guest book would be well received.
