Keeping the Monthly Winter Tradition – Jan 2013

Started back in November 2009, Mick & I get out to one of our local Conservation areas once a month through the winter season. Sometimes it’s to test new gear or go Snowshoeing but usually it’s just about kicking back and unwinding for a night or two around the campfire. This weekend was another one for the books and marks #17 trip wise, there wasn’t enough snow for the shoes but we hiked a couple of hours on foot. Temps got down to -16.9c Saturday night, not enough to challenge Mick’s Snow Beast TQ/UQ but it did break our local Temp record of -16.2c. Like always, we took lots of shots, here’s a couple…

Great pictures! Looks like you guys had a great time. I need to put more effort into getting out more. Once a month during the winter months would be awesome! Not sure how long we'll live in Utah before the Air Force moves us on again....need to take advantage of the great location while I can.

    Thanks for sharing.

    ~2* F? Brrr...

Gorgeous shots there, [o]TTeR. And very nice post-shot work, too. Your offerings in the visual realm for trip reports are always beautiful, and that's saying something considering the volume of 'em.

I like the firewood stacked up on the bench. Talk about being LNT; no worries about trying to find some at a picked-over prepared site.

How's that Biolite working out for you? I saw one briefly down here at the 3rd Annual Hang, and it looked nice for a base camp toy.
