My ultimate hardware free tarp suspension

Not having tried this yet I maybe unnecessarily making it more complicated. I'm wondering about changing the fixed loop that is larks headed to the tarp to a constricting loop like the kind on the end of a soft shackle. It could open, making room for the prussic loop's stop knot then constrict, locking the stop knot in place.

I thought about doing that but it seems secure enough when under tension.

I like the prussics just fine (used a system much like yours for a while), but I can't get a super tight ridgeline like I do with the tarp flys (or figure 9).

It's surely a fine way to do it though....HYOY

Forgot to say I use the Klemheist style Prusik knot. Very easy to tie and it holds very tight under tension but moves easily when needed.

I haven't used that knot, but the fact that the prussic was difficult to move was a reason that I looked at something different. I'm going to play with this version.

I used the method from Warbonnet's tarp set up video this weekend and it worked perfectly. No hardware, yet it uses three-to-one style knots to still get the lines taut.

Much like my suspension except I have a spliced a Dutch hook instead of a stopper knot. Offers some other setup options and I can work it with cold hands or light gloves. Call it a Dutch shackle prusik.

I am using this setup now after reading the original post but I am using a continous ridgeline basically mine starts like the OP does larksheaded to tarp and prusik with stopper but then continues to other end of tarp. after looping around tree I take second prusik and tie a slip knot in line and pull prusik tight.done!

I haven’t used any hardware to hang my tarp. Unfortunately my knot tying skills are second-rate and the results have been only OK. While I’m hibernating today I believe I will give this seemingly easy method to hang my tarp a try. Thanks for posting this.
